We created a graphic organizer depicting 5 different levels of organization: Cells, Nucleus, Chromosomes, Genes, DNA.
Cells contain a nucleus, mitochondria, and ribosomes along with other organelles. Mitochondira generate energy through cellular respiration, and ribosomes perform protein synthesis.
The Nucleus is the "control center" of the cell.
Chromosomes are thread-like structures of tightly packed DNA, and they are found in the nucleus. Human have 23 pairs of chromosomes. This complete set is called the genome.
Genes are sections of DNA inside a chromosomes that are the specific instructions or "recipe" for traits.
DNA has a double helix structure composed of nucleotides. Nucleotides are composed of phosphate, sugar, and a nitrogen base. Specific nitrogen bases fit together. A -T and C - G
